Times are definitely changing as being courteous is no longer an option specially with Flair Airlines (Edmonton International Airport). They stopped me from boarding my flight to Toronto today and asked me to pay $120 for oversized personal item.

This is their business model now according to a reddit post.

I have flown with them before several times and never had I worried about this as much as I am worried now. There is blood on the streets or shall I say at Edmonton International Airport where blood hungry Flair Airlines and their staff is.

Not only were they not courteous, they were overly strict and uppity with customers like me.

It seems like none of my existing carry-on or backpacks will fit their dimensions. And I may have to purchase a very specific carry-on for their flights. Reminds me of a video from Europe where a passenger was pulling off the wheels of their carry-on to fly.

Anyway, they are indeed still the cheapest airline in Canada and since there are not many airlines here, the lack of competition makes them do whatever and however they want.

Will they at least issue me a refund for a missed flight? Time will tell as I have just submitted a claim.

Did you have to pay extra at Flair Airlines boarding gate? Tell me about your experience in the comments down below. So I can assess if it’s worth taking them to consumer protection bureau.

If you are also fed up with flying or with the airports, consider driving or renting a car and make a road trip.

Share your road trip on Mamiride and cover the costs of fuel, insurance and wear and tear of your car.
